Overview
As a part of the introductory project for the furniture design component of my degree, students were tasked to design and fabricate a portable side table.
This foldable book table is a product of the ideation phase of that project. Though it was eventually beat out by another concept, I found this concept to be an interesting avenue.
The Basis
The idea was based on the table holding a book, so it looked and behaved like a book. Hinges would be used to create flaps that would be able to come together to form the handle, satisfying the portable requirement in the brief.
